A Person Has to Go Through the Following Tests for A Complete Eye Test:
- Refraction eye test: In order to calculate the power of the spectacles or lenses eye refraction test is performed. It is done on the basis of the capacity of vision through a distance. It not only detects the power change but also other eye problems.
- Test for visual acuity: It is done to check if the eye is able to see the overall detail of an object which may be its shape, size or colour. This test is subdivided into further tests which can be performed easily.
- Radioscopy: This test is concerned with the retina of an eye. You be noticing a beam of light entering your eyes. This light is reflected on the retina of the patient to test the capacity of the reflection of the retina. Special equipment known as Radioscopy is used for the test.
- Test for checking colour blindness: The eye test is also termed as Ishihara test. In this test a person is shown a large number of dots with different colours if the person is colour blind he will not be able to identify those colours rather he will see it as one colour but a person with proper vision can easily distinguish the colours and can recognize them easily
- Ocular motility or eye movement test: This is done to examine the vision capacity of the eye at different directions. The visibility of the eyes of such patients differs at different positions. The patient should be able to understand the problem of their eye. They should also be informed about the treatment they are going through.
- Measurement of Intraocular Pressure: This test is also called the Glaucoma test. It measures the pressure or force exerted by the fluid in the eyes. In case the pressure is abnormally high then it indicates symptoms of glaucoma. An instrument is used for testing the pressure by gently touching the eyes. Thus, it is a very simple and pain-free test.
Importance of Eye Test:
- Help Children in preventing vision defects: Timely examination of eyes prevents problems of short-sightedness or long-sightedness in all age groups. Children do not understand that they have vision problems. Myopia progression can be slowed down as soon as it is detected.
- Prevention of glaucoma: Many people do not realize that they are suffering from Glaucoma and thus many a time end up with a loss of vision. Eye test helps in taking preventive steps in case it is detected in the early stage.
- It helps in detecting other diseases: People after going for a test end up discovering that they are suffering from other diseases like blood pressure disorder and diabetes.
- Prevent Retinal damage: Sometimes retina gets damaged due to some injury or diseases like hypertension or diabetes. Eye test helps to detect the same and control measures are taken to control damages to the retina where images are formed.
- Prevention of infection in the eyes: Eyes are prone to infection due to bacteria or another microorganism. We often ignore the same and sometimes end up in loss of eyesight. Thus eye test or check-up becomes mandatory.
Thus, an eye test is absolutely necessary for healthy eyes. Good and proper eyesight is important for human beings and as such one must without fail go for regular eye check-ups.
