Fixed Geometry: Fixed Geometry holset turbo is the pioneering turbocharger technology of Holset. This type of turbocharger increases the engine power by funneling all the exhaust gases into the turbine. Fuel economy is the primary advantage of fixed geometry turbochargers. Fixed geometry turbochargers come in frame sizes of 150, 200, 300, 500, 600, 800, 900, and 1000. They are designed for light to heavy-duty applications.

Variable Geometry: Variable Geometry holset turbo technology was first introduced in 1998 for diesel engines of commercial vehicles. Holset VGT enables high boost pressure at low engine speeds. It is achieved due to a wide range of flow caused by a patented sliding nozzle ring. VGT turbocharger has less moving parts because the vanes slide axially. As a result, your engine cannot get affected by wear and tear. New research and development are being conducted by Cummins to increase the fuel efficiency of VGT turbocharger and reduce the operating costs. VGT turbocharger comes in frame sizes of 200, 300, 400, and 500. VGT turbochargers are manufactured for light-duty, medium-duty, and heavy-duty applications.

Wastegate: Wastegate holset turbo charger uses optimized wastegate. Wastegate controls the release of excess exhaust gases concerning amount and timing. The optimized wastegate of the turbocharger prevents over boost of the engine and also prevents over-speeding of the turbocharger. Frame sizes of electrical types are 200 and 500, while that of pneumatic varieties is 150, 200, 250, 300, 450, 500, and 600.
