Data and Communication systems are a combination of individual networks and communication systems which are usually interconnected to build an integrated single network. - The basic data communicating system is the simplex communication system in which the data can be sent only in one direction. The data can only be sent and the data source acts as the transmitter. In this mode of transmission system the receiver is the final destination of the message.

When the data is transmitted from the transmitter the receiver has to wait till he receives the entire data and then only should respond. This mode of communication system is known as the half duplex systems.
- The full duplex system of communicating data signals is the advancement technique to the earlier type. In this mode of communication the transmitter and receiver can send and receive data impulses at a same time.
- The most common type of data communicating mode is the serial type of communication system in which the data that needs to be transmitted is split into bits. The transmitter sends the data bits and once when the receiver receives all parts of the information; it re-assembles the data information to compose the original data.

Twisted pair cables is a form of wiring in pairs twisted for the purpose of electromagnetic interference from the external factors during the data transmission. Coaxial cables are the ones which confines the electromagnetic impulses within the cable itself between the center conductor part and the outer shield. A fiber-optic is the most advanced mode of transmitting digital data which is done through optical fibers. The data which needs to be transmitted is converted into light impulses and then passed through these optical cables. Optical communication is the most efficient mode of transmission systems as the data loss is very minimal.

The data which is transmitted through these system lines do not get degraded in quality and most importantly the data is exchanged in a safe and secure mode. Data theft is not a concern to worry about. The data can be sent as analog and digital pulses and are easy in deciphering to get the actual message.
