Some of the most common problems that one can witness in a semi truck are discussed below so that you can go to the semi truck repair shop and take corrective measures.

The Problems

  • Grinding Sound: If you hear a grinding noise after starting the engine and it continues to stay without stopping, irrespective of the trailer attached or not, it is to be assumed that your clutch plate has worn out. It typically happens after running the truck for some tens of thousands of miles. Apart from the clutch being worn out, it may happen because of fitting a wrong size clutch in your last semi truck repair.  Go to your nearest best repair shop who has expert mechanics to change the clutch plate. Usually, clutches are guaranteed for one year or some specified thousands of miles after the replacement. So if it is under guarantee period go to the same repair shop and get the job done for free.
  • Problems with Radiator Fluids: This is another case when the semi truck repair is needed. This happens due to leakage in the radiator of the truck engine which allows the radiator fluid to leak through the pipes and making the engine hot like anything. The radiator fluid may also disappear even without a leakage prompting that the gasket head needs to be changed. Checking and adjusting the sensor level of the coolant when the truck is cold can give a solution to your problem if there are no external leakages.
  • The Truck Running on Reduced Power: No matter how hard you press the accelerator, if you see a reduced engine power warning message on your truck, you should immediately contact the semi truck repair center of the manufacturer instead of any local repairing shop or the dealer. It may be a sign of significant problem your truck is having, and the automatic sensors have sensed that and reduced the power of operation. Go to the repair shop without delay to avoid further breakdowns.
  • Problems with Brake Locks: All of these trucks have pneumatic brakes. They work on air pressure that flows from the compressed air tanks to the brake shoes when the brake pedal is pressed.  Often the brake locks malfunction and the semi truck cannot be controlled leading to a dangerous driving and fatal accidents.  You should immediately go to a semi truck repair workshop and get the problem rectified. Do not try to do anything on your own with the brake locks and take expert servicing opinion and rectification. There may be leakage in the air pipe, or the brake shoes have worn out, or maybe the compressor is not generating enough pressure inside the air tank that is causing the problem, always seek expert help to rectify the issue.
